Liturgical Life

Our on-campus liturgical life at Bishop McGuinness provides students with opportunities to live out their faith at school. Our liturgical life finds its purpose in our school’s mission to develop our students in their pursuit of excellence in all areas of life, including their spiritual lives.

Mass as a School Community

The sacrifice of the Mass is the source and summit of our Catholic faith and is the most important and sacred form of prayer. In the celebration of the Mass, we are nourished by the Word of God and the Holy Eucharist. Because of the centrality of the Mass to our faith, we gather regularly as a school community to participate in the sacrifice of the Mass. At Bishop McGuinness, we celebrate an all-school Mass in our gym twice a month, as well as a Mass for each grade level in our chapel once a month. The times for these Masses are posted on our online calendar, and families are always most welcome to join.

Optional Daily Mass

In addition to our regularly scheduled all-school Masses and grade-level Masses, daily Mass is celebrated each day at Bishop McGuinness in our chapel. These Masses typically take place at 7:55am on mornings when there is no all-school Mass or grade-level Mass scheduled. These Masses are optional for students to attend, but all students, families, and faculty are always most welcome to attend. The times for these Masses are posted on our online calendar.

Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a beautiful opportunity to experience God’s mercy and forgiveness. Students and faculty at Bishop have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation twice a week: on Tuesdays during the three lunch periods, as well as on Fridays during Bishop Time. Also, during Lent, we hold a Day of Adoration and Reconciliation when all students are given a special opportunity to take advantage of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Outside of these scheduled times, individual times for Reconciliation can be coordinated with our full-time priest chaplain.
